I am the Chief Executive Officer of US Barge, LLC. US Barge employs skilled technicians with expertise in engineering and welding at our facility in the process of building large fabricated steel products for the marine industry. I, and other representatives from US Barge, have seen firsthand the skill level and capability of DSIC employees and their knowledge of shipbuilding techniques that will enhance the technical capability of US Barge. DSIC has developed several shipbuilding welding technologies that US Barge hopes to incorporate into our business to improve quality, efficiency, and productivity. Examples include High Efficiency Welding Techniques such as automatic flat fillet welding, vertical fillet welding, horizontal welding, and flat automatic joint welding. US Barge also plans to incorporate techniques and welding technology developed by DSIC to reduce the time it takes to bulid barges and barge components. Techniques such as Shipbuilding Welding Technology that adopts flat section fitting and welding to achieve multi-pass submerged arc welding, and one-side welding techniques can improve deposition efficiency and incorporate automation into US Barge processes.

I am currently the Vice President of Operations at Derecktor Shipyards Connecticut LLC (DSCL). I have been working in the shipbuilding industry since my graduation. Based on my 35 years of experience in the ship design and construction industry, I am familiar with the advanced level of expertise of DSIC employees and the service that they will provide to the U.S. industry. DSIC engineers and workers are highly skilled in welding techniques such as DSCL and other US shipbuilders need. In particular, DSIC has developed advanced techniques for one sided welding of plate seams/butts which result in high deposition rates and low distortion of the welded assembly. The high-end welding equipment, special performace of welding material and new welding technology which DSIC engineers can bring to shipyards like DSCL will make the speed of shipbuilding faster, and make us more competitive. We need their consultants to oversee our employees in order to make this happen.
